Watch One Of LEMMY's Final Video Interviews
September 14, 2016On August 13, 2015, Matt Sweeney of Noisey sat down with MOTÖRHEAD's late, great Lemmy Kilmister at the rocker's favorite Los Angeles haunt, the Rainbow Bar & Grill, for one of the British legend's final video interviews.
Ever the gentleman, Lemmy sat down over a drink and a game of video poker to speak on his love for the the signature Rickenbacker bass guitar, auditioning for HAWKWIND, his mother's love for lap-steel, and how seeing THE BEATLES for the first time changed his life — and by extension, changed rock 'n' roll forever.
You can watch the interview below.
Lemmy, who celebrated his 70th birthday last Christmas Eve (December 24),learned two days later that he was afflicted with an aggressive form of cancer. He died two days later, on December 28, at his home in Los Angeles.
The MOTÖRHEAD frontman had dealt with several health issues over the past few years, including heart trouble, forcing him to cut back on his famous smoking and Jack Daniels habits.
The band canceled a number of shows last year, although they did manage to complete one final European tour on December 11, 2015.
